The prophet Mohammed never swore, but there is nothing stated in the quran to the effect that swearing is a prohibition, though it is a standard sunnah, meaning generally speaking, and that, whatever practices the prophet Mohammad pbuh participated in, should try to be reflected in our everyday lives', this is only a practice and not an official command, therefore to state, to have a prohibition and a penalty box for such a deed, is a complete fabrication of the religion its-self, though abstaining from swearing, is something highly recommended.
